Dear Colleague

Over the past few days we have had a number of calls from concerned clients asking if we are aware of rumours regarding the availability of “J-Lar” tape. It would seem that it is being alleged that “J-Lar” is soon to be discontinued and there is a supplier claiming to have purchased all of the available stock of this item.

In an effort to clarify the situation, WA has been in contact with our manufacturer who very kindly agreed to provide the following information which we hope is useful:


Question:	We understand that J-Lar is being discontinued – is this true?
Answer:	No, it is completely false. We believe that there is some misinformation around due to the fact that J-Lar is a product that originally was supplied by a company called Permacel. The manufacturing rights to the original “Clear to the core J-Lar” were transferred to our company some years ago and we have continued to produce it since then. From January 2009 all J-LAR produced will be branded "J-LAR Clear to the core" but without the Permacel name. It is true to say that Permacel hold the rights to manufacturer two other similar products to the original J-Lar, namely “J-Lar910” and “J-LarII” and we believe that the factory that manufacturers these products and others may be closing and that these products may be discontinuing. For our part, our company continues to be successful and we have just renewed our lease on our current factory in the US so there are no plans to phase the original J-Lar out of our production schedules.

Question:	So there should be no major supply issues?
Answer:	No, on top of the manufacturers stock we understand that WA are currently stocking well over 2000 rolls. We are very much looking forward to continuing our successful relationship with them as the primary supplier of consumable equipment for this industry.

Question:	How can our customers tell the difference between the original product and lesser quality alternatives?
Answer:	Our product is clearly branded within the tape “J-LAR Clear to the core!” Customers should insist on the original and not accept potentially lesser alternatives.

Question:	Are you saying that the other products are unsuitable?
Answer:	No, we cannot confirm or deny the suitability of these products that are being discontinued. Customers must draw their own conclusions. However the “J-LAR Clear to the Core” branded product is the closest product to the original J-LAR tape originally produced by Permacel.
